Dingle Dell Reserve Management

Objective:

Your Residents Association was asked to approach Auckland Council to advocate for better management of Dingle Dell Reserve. This involves enhancing weeding efforts and removing overgrown vegetation, especially within the streams, to prevent blockages and improve stormwater flow.

Description:

Your Residents’ Association has worked hard to galvanise the various departments responsible for managing different aspects of Dingle Dell Reserve, and we are pleased to report that we have made the following progress:

• Healthy Waters & Watercare have cleared significant amounts of debris and repaired infrastructure.
• The Parks Department of Council has begun mowing and improving public spaces.
• Challenges: There has been some Council pushback on clearing the streams despite their role in the stormwater network. We are advocating for proper maintenance.
• Next Steps: The Management Plan for Dingle Dell has been agreed to be updated and adopted by the Orakei Local Board (OLB). Work in progress.
• Your Association will continue to work with and encourage the departments to restore Dingle Dell to the condition such a prized local asset should be in and to keep it well maintained.
